On Tuesday 17 August, a group of volunteers transferred school furniture, which had been stored in a container in Heerhugowaard, to our storage in Broek op Langedijk. On Wednesday, August 18, a large group of volunteers loaded a Romanian trailer, this time destined for Botosani. A few other teams have done pick-up jobs. It all went smoothly and without any problems, yet there were some gloomy faces at the end of the day. A few months ago the storage was still completely full, now it is completely different, the level of our stock is (too) low. What is especially lacking is food, when I return from our walking holiday (September 4) I will get to work trying to change this. If anyone reads this and thinks there may be something I can do about it, please pass it on. For the poor slobs we care about, all help is welcome. Here the link to pictures of the loading football clothes from Enkhuizen Cristi is happy with his cargo, they will probably unload on Monday. He sent a lot of photos of ha

On Wednesday, August 18, we again managed to load a trailer with useful relief supplies. This time with destination Marghita and Ticau. Not everything was equally easy to load, but it turned out well again. There were also the necessary pick-up jobs at Noorderhaven in Julianadorp and at Content in Wormerveer. So there was plenty to do again and a well spent day. The truck was half unloaded on Saturday morning in Marghita and loaded again with a batch of potatoes and carrots for Reghina in Ticau. Very early on I received a call from Attila that the driver was not allowed to go to Ticau to unload from his boss. This extra 100 kilometers would not have been specified when requesting the transport. In addition, he had received a ticket in Poland. It was later revealed that this was a violation of the Driving Hours Act. A fine of no less than € 1.800 about a month and a half salary for the driver, I think. It is a pity that there are not many more checks on compliance with this law, for bot

It has been a busy week for our team, with a few exceptions for the over 70s. Wednesday 11 August with clearing and preparing the goods for transport and collection jobs. The Red Cross Hospital had a nice batch for us, as did Dorcas in Schagen and the clothing bank in Egmond. On Thursday, August 12, two empty trucks with trailers were standing in front of the door, loading 180 m3 of a total of approximately 35 tons is quite a challenge. Fortunately there were enough experienced volunteers to make this happen and it all went well. After lunch there was still an hour to work and at 2 pm both trucks left for Romania. The truck for Breaza will be unloaded there on Monday. The truck for Deaj came with double crew, has already arrived and also unloaded. Here is the link to photos. Henk Muller sent a message about the berry pickers from Romania from Haranglab, among others. They have been lucky with their client, according to Henk. There is an enormous demand for workers from other countries

Wednesday, August 4, we cleaned up quite a bit in our storage at the Dulleweg in Broek op Langedijk. There were still a few pick-up jobs and a little more time than usual to catch up. Friday, August 6, we were able to pick up a trailer full of beautiful useful items in Weesp at the HIRF Foundation. The Veenstra family always has many activities. For example, four containers with relief goods for Suriname have now been loaded there, the first of which are already at their destination. Many people live in poverty in Suriname and, for example, in hospitals there is a lack of almost everything. There are also contacts with an organization in Lebanon. Here too many people have been oppressed in a terrible way. Just a few examples of relief actions from Weesp. Here is the link to their facebook page. From Reghina from Ticau we received another series of photos of heartwarming actions, she seems unstoppable. Here is the link to photos. Toth Attila from Pers sent some photos of his pig project
