Weekly update 34/21

On Wednesday, August 18, we again managed to load a trailer with useful relief supplies. This time with destination Marghita and Ticau. Not everything was equally easy to load, but it turned out well again.

There were also the necessary pick-up jobs at Noorderhaven in Julianadorp and at Content in Wormerveer. So there was plenty to do again and a well spent day.

The truck was half unloaded on Saturday morning in Marghita and loaded again with a batch of potatoes and carrots for Reghina in Ticau. Very early on I received a call from Attila that the driver was not allowed to go to Ticau to unload from his boss. This extra 100 kilometers would not have been specified when requesting the transport. In addition, he had received a ticket in Poland. It was later revealed that this was a violation of the Driving Hours Act. A fine of no less than € 1.800 about a month and a half salary for the driver, I think. It is a pity that there are not many more checks on compliance with this law, for both the drivers and the companies this would be the best. The “playing field” must be level for all and not be spoiled by notorious lawbreakers. In order not to frustrate everything further, Attila paid € 100 extra, and the driver was able to unload at Reghina in Ticau. The driver had to complete his daily rest in Marghita before he could continue. Unloading has become night work for Reghina, the last photo I got is 11:35 am. Fortunately, most transports go well.

Cristi sent pictures of the extension of the children's home Casa Iona and the distribution of goods. This time together with a couple from Denmark who are important sponsors for this new building from their church. A group from Denmark also came for a day-long visit. So busy enough in Botosani and it's good that there is this interest in the beautiful work of Cristi and Aline. Great partners to work with.

Reghina from Ticau also sent pictures of her activities, including unloading the truck. Reghina has visited the hospital in connection with an attack of kidney stones. She is now on medication and they seem to be helping.

Imola from Breaza sent a series of photos of the unloading of the last trailer last Monday, August 16. Unsurprisingly, Catalin was delighted with his new bike. I think the holiday at Velomobiel's bicycle factory is over and he will start working there full-time on Monday. Also for Jannie and me a special moment because we still remember like it was yesterday that he came to live with Csaba and Imola in Breaza as a little boy.

John Fracker sent photos with an explanation.
