Weekly update 38/22

Another week has flown by. The number of requests for help from Romania and the Ukraine is growing rapidly. With winter approaching and the bizarre war in Ukraine, the lives of millions of people are in turmoil. It has now become a long-standing tradition for the Promotion Foundation to celebrate Christmas and Easter to make about 4.500 packages for the poorest part of the population there. Demand is greater than ever for understandable reasons, we are not shying away from the challenge. Due to the enormous price increases, the exact implementation is still a puzzle. It's a shame that manufacturers can make less excess inventory available. We are only a relatively small party in this “market” and we have to deal with many other organizations with the same interest in these goods. The new building in Botosani is making good progress, the installation of fire detectors is now also ready. After the construction comes the phase of final permits, it is still an enormous paperwork that C...

Imola from Breaza sent pictures made by Mucui Joszef. In July we visited his soup kitchen in the gypsy quarter of Tirgu Mures, (see weekly report 30). Through Csaba and Imola from Breaza, he now receives more goods for his project, including vegetables and potatoes from the farm in Marghita. It is of course fantastic what this man is doing and it is good that we are helping him. Here is the link to photos. On Wednesday a truck was loaded with destination Marghita, a nice varied load including a number of beds for the local hospital there. The truck was unloaded there on Saturday morning. Here is the link to photos. Henk Muller sent photos of the construction of a number of houses made of sandwich panels by Gerrit Klaassen from Stichting Broda from Hulshorst. Well done, again a number of people under roof, it is help arriving. The house for Maria to which we were allowed to contribute is also ready. (see weekly report 33) Good that people like Henk and Marin are active in such a village...

In the previous post I wrote about the motorcycle trip we were going to make to the Dolomites. Jan Valk had again organized a wonderful ride for it, all participants enjoyed it. Our guests from Romania loved it. I was back home on Sunday evening. I have attached some photos for those who are interested. The movie is fun, with the super sports cars driving behind me. I was able to stay ahead of them for a while, Imola made the film in the meantime. Here the link to the video and the pictures As a result, updating the blog was delayed. On Monday September 5, the trailer with potatoes and vegetables arrived in Botosani. This lot was grown on the farm in Marghita and the sponsor is an American organization. Cristi sent a whole series of photos of the unloading in Botosani and the delivery in the Ukraine. It goes without saying that the people there can use help and it is great that we can contribute to that. Here the link to pictures of the arrival of the potatoes and vegetables. Here is t...

Cristi from Botosani is making good progress with the repair of the fire damage of the boarding school under construction. An admirable energy from him and his team, I respect it. A while ago I was with Nico and Cristi in the Ukraine and had a meeting there with Igor a pastor of the Pentecostal church. Igor and his team provide daily meals for approximately 2,000 refugees. He sent some pictures of it, especially because I've been there myself, I'm amazed at how they manage this. It almost feels like an obligation to continue to help these people, luckily we have a good partner for this in the person of Cristi. The photos were also taken further inland to the Donbas region, close to the places where this war is still going on for incomprehensible reasons. It's a bit of a shame that Igor is more of a doer than a story writer (see weekly report 29). Here the link to pictures of Cristi and Igor On Wednesday, August 31, another nice cargo of relief goods was loaded with destina...

In addition to photos, Cristi from Botosani gave us an extensive explanation of where the goods we brought have ended up. He also emphasizes the importance of these of our aid transports once again. The war continues unabated, a solution is far from in sight. No one knows what will happen next, but we do know that the coming autumn and winter will make the lives of many people very difficult. Here the link to Cristi's message Here the link to photos of Cristi. Soon a truckload of potatoes and vegetables will be sent to the Ukraine via Cristi's depot in Botosani. An American organization is responsible for the costs of this. On Wednesday 24 August, our volunteers did pick-up and sorting work in our storage at 20 Dulleweg in Broek op Langedijk. On Wednesday 31 August we will load a trailer with destination Botosani, part of which will go back to the Ukraine. We hope that some additional food will become available. Imola from the depot in Breaza sent photos of a truck unloading an...

Monday, August 15, the trailer we had loaded was unloaded in Botosani on Wednesday, August 10. Cristi and his team were very satisfied with the content there. The distribution started fairly quickly and later in the week, vans arrived from Ukraine again to pick up the items. It's great that we can help in this way, the question is very large, it is hard to imagine how many people are in trouble there. Here is the link to photos. Wednesday 17 August we loaded a truck with relief supplies with destination Breaza. A nice varied load, loading went smoothly with a small team. At 13 o'clock the truck was on its way to Romania, early Friday morning it was unloaded there after a journey of 2,000 kilometers. The pick-up jobs weren't a problem either. The importance of our work is only increasing everywhere poverty is increasing rapidly. In countries where this already happened often, the growth is fastest. Here the link to pictures of the loading. Here the link to pictures of the un...

It doesn't look like the war in Ukraine will be over anytime soon. Every day there are victims and it causes untold suffering. Yesterday I read a newspaper article about aid to refugees there, It makes clear how necessary and useful it is to keep sending relief supplies. Here is the link to this article. Wednesday we were able to put together a nice load with useful relief supplies. Three quarters of the trailer goes to Cristi in Botosani and from there partly into the Ukraine. A quarter of the trailer was unloaded last Friday afternoon at Reghina in Ticau. The loading went well, the driver who secured everything with straps and anti-slip mats. With a cargo that is square full, this is not a requirement, he probably had to deal with the German BAG or other law enforcement before. The pick-up jobs also went smoothly, everyone could go home on time. Here are the pictures of loading and unloading in Ticau. In Breaza they are busy with the distribution of the goods we have brought, pho...
