Weekly update 27/25 Engels

A lot of work has been done again in the past week. On Tuesday 1 July we were able to pick up a batch of preserving jars in Zoetermeer. These came from the retail chain Pieter Pot, a company that is committed to using less packaging material. Reusing preserving jars multiple times is an important part of this. 

In Romania preserving is still popular, the produce from your garden and orchard can also be eaten in the winter. Jan Pilkes from St Caritas was also able to pick up for Ukraine.

On Wednesday 2 July a trailer arrived on time for Breaza, fortunately there were
enough volunteers, we were done with loading and the pick-up jobs shortly after lunch.

On Thursday afternoon we had another pick-up job, our stock remains reasonably at the same level and we cannot complain about the quality of it either.

The trailer that we loaded on June 19 in Broek op Langedijk, came to unload in Breaza on Monday June 30. The trailer that we loaded on June 25 in Broek op Langedijk, came to unload in Breaza on Friday July 4. The distribution started immediately, enough buyers.

Imola has reported on her blog about the activities with the elderly in Breaza. The elderly in the village are very happy that this possibility exists, this social contact with each other is important for the well-being of a person.

Marin and Eniko from Band have also run their weekly program of cooking for children twice a week. They were also busy distributing food. Marin has come into contact with a family with a very bad "house". Next week I will contact him to discuss the possibilities.

Henk Muller is in the Netherlands and visits many of his contacts. He was quite unlucky, he fell down the stairs at a lodging address. Fortunately, his recovery is going well.

The harvest is in full swing on the farm in Marghita. The rapeseed is almost finished, the yield and the price are both reasonable to good. It is very warm again, 35°C and higher. The harvesting of early potatoes has also started, as well as many other vegetables. Poor people also benefit, part of the proceeds ends up there via our network.

In Getz there are many activities for the elderly and children. It is nice to see that the accommodation that is available for this is functioning so well.

Reghina from Ticau has received products from the farm and is happy that she can also distribute them.

Via the depot in Breaza, St. Phoneo from Reghin was able to distribute potatoes. The people were very happy with them. Ilja Witte sent a few photos of them.

Viorel and Elena from Deaj have done a lot of work again. Baking bread was a hot job with an outside temperature of 35°C and higher.

This week two photo albums of Joszi and his team from Tirgu Mures. The first is of their "normal" activities, cooking food for children, the washing and bathing program and the distribution of food and clothing.

The second is about the terribly bad housing of families in this neighborhood. This is a long-standing problem and there are thick reports written about it. You only really see how bad it is when you see it with your own eyes and smell it with your nose.

The album below contains a series of videos and Joszi's plan to do something about it. He wants to replace the slums with residential containers, which the mayor turns a blind eye to. They can be moved if there are other plans for this land in the future. I would like to help, I estimate the costs at around € 6,000 each to place such a residential container there. I hope others will too and that together we can bring about change in the lives of these families.

Next Wednesday we will load half a trailer for Breaza and the other half will go to Marghtia. After unloading in Marghita, Attila will load potatoes, vegetables and flour for Breaza.
