Weekly update 23 Engels
This is the first update after a three-week break. It won't be a full retrospective, but rather a few highlights. Our contacts in Romania have faithfully sent their photos, that much is true. Our help is still more than welcome in Romania. The unstable political situation, rising inflation, business closures, and consequently increasing unemployment are not making life any easier.
The war in their neighboring country Ukraine also has many negative consequences. On Tuesday, volunteers from St. Caritas in De Rijp went here again with Jan Pilkes' DAF truck and trailer. We were able to hand over several pallets of candy for children's camps that a pastor organizes there.
Last Wednesday, we were able to load a trailer with nice, usable items.
We received potatoes and onions from St. Manna. We still had various kinds of tasty treats in stock, as well as some groceries. Supplemented with clothing and furniture, it made for a fine load. We loaded on Wednesday morning, and the truck headed by road to Breaza, a 2,000-kilometer drive. With two drivers who could take turns, this went quickly; unloading took place in Breaza on Friday morning.
