Weekly update 30/24 Engels

There was little time for me to recover from our trip to Romania. On Monday, the WhatsApp messages and phone calls started pouring in. Fortunately, you can arrange a lot from behind a desk. It is also important that we have volunteers who you can call on if something extra needs to be done.

On Monday, a full trailer had to be unloaded that brought supplies to Broek op Langedijk. On Tuesday, an unexpectedly large collection job came from Wormerveer. On Thursday, too, but then from the middle of the country. It all went well, our stock has been replenished with nice items. Mainly edible, this is what is needed most.

On Wednesday, the Kempf family came from Germany to load, together with Jorg Bredderman, these people have been doing a lot for people in Ukraine for years. Now, in this miserable time of war there, they are going even further. The intention was to make about 10 pallets of food available to them. Because we received so much at the last minute, it became a full trailer. Of course, there was a lot of talk about how and why this was done. Everyone who was involved has a positive feeling about it, I think. As is so often the case, a pastor of a church is involved in the distribution and part goes to the soldiers on the front line. They are risking their lives and the food supply is unfortunately insufficient even for these people.

When the truck is empty, he goes to Attila from the farm in Marghita and gets a full load of potatoes, vegetables and this time also some flour. This goes to the pastor in Ukraine. It is of course great that we can help make this possible.

On Wednesday there were also some pick-up jobs, so a day well spent. Wim Bos from Weesp contacted me and had a question. Wim has a friend in Romania who he has known for a long time and who does good work as has been shown by his experiences. The question was whether he could give Daniel my telephone number in case we could give something for his projects.

The outcome was that this man and his wife drove up from Lunteren in a Mercedes bus last Friday. In an extensive introduction round it turned out that he has worked in the Netherlands for a long time and also speaks good Dutch. He knows many people there who help him with his evangelism and help to poor people. A great guy with a big heart and good references. We loaded his bus together after which he left for a temporary address in Lunteren, Jan Hardeman from the construction company of the same name. Together with someone else who also has a small truck, they left that evening for Corpinis, a village near Sebes.

Henk Muller has been handing out again, and is now in Paris. Together with his daughter and a group of others, they are going to evangelize there during the Olympic Games there.

Csaba from Breaza was able to collect flour again for the various bread baking projects. Attila was also at the Europan flour mill in Sărmășag and collected a few tons that will go to Ukraine via Bredderman. Part of the wheat from the 2024 harvest of the farm will also be milled at Europan for flour for the bread baking projects. In Breaza they also came to collect goods again, it just keeps going.

Then news about our annual BBQ, unfortunately this cannot take place on August 3. Too many of the people who come to help every week are on vacation or have other concerns. We are going to move it to September 28, because autumn is already making its entrance then it will be an indoor event. Most likely at our location on the Dulleweg in Broek op Langedijk, we will keep you informed.

Next Wednesday, July 31, we will load a trailer that will be given the destination Marghita.
