Weekly Report 18/26

A week flies by, especially when a lot is happening. That was the case again last week.

On Wednesday, May 6, a trailer was loaded destined for Breaza. Putting together a usable load required some puzzling: our stock is currently smaller than average. Ultimately, however, it worked out well. The pick-up jobs also went smoothly, and the lunch was excellently provided by Hesva. Consequently, we went home feeling good.

Requests for help continue to come in from Romania. Recently, I wrote about the man with one leg whose small house was renovated and who received a mobility scooter. This support has given his life a tremendous positive turn.

Now Marin sent me photos of another man and his family. It concerns a sixty-year-old man who was once a gifted footballer, but who has been without a lower leg for a year and a half. He hasn't been outside since then. The cottage he lives in leaks and shows all kinds of defects. Just like the rest of the village, the family knows what happened to the other man. There is room on the property to build a new cottage.

In Târgu Mureș, significant progress has been made in the search for new housing for the woman currently living under a tarpaulin with her three children. Soon, she will be able to make a fresh start in a residential container being placed in a better location. Additionally, an outdoor toilet is being installed.

The hope is that, with extra guidance from Józsi, she seizes this opportunity to work towards a better future for herself and her children.

In Breaza, as is so often the case, it was bustling with activity. People are coming there to pick up relief supplies that have arrived from Broek op Langedijk. Csaba and Imola form the important link for us on the ground.

Unfortunately, we can only solve a fraction of the problems faced by people living in poverty. It remains a constant balancing act: where can we help and where can't we? These are not always easy choices. That is precisely why Csaba and Imola are such valuable partners, with whom we can make these assessments together.

Reghina from Ticau shares everything she can with others. Because there is a shortage in many places, we are unfortunately unable to meet all her requests for help.

Henk Muller rarely sits still. He has once again picked up and distributed stock from Breaza and also provided children's programs at various locations. Wherever Henk is, something is always happening.

The activities of Viorel and Elena from Deaj are important for the community in which they live. Every week they provide help in many different places, which demands a lot from them. It is good that we support them in this.

Inci and Domien from Sălard have sent photos and an explanation regarding the distribution of their share of the Easter packages. Here too, many happy faces.

The dinner cooking and the bath and clean clothes program continued running as usual in the meantime.

Unfortunately, we are unable to load a trailer this coming Wednesday. It doesn't happen often, but we do not have suitable stock for a transport. There are, however, pickup jobs available.

There will be no update on this blog for the next two weeks; the writer and his wife are going on vacation.
