Weekly update Engels 41/25

The days are getting shorter, is a phrase you often hear around this time of year. Surely the weeks aren't getting shorter too?

It was certainly a challenging week, which we concluded with a successful BBQ. We welcomed over eighty guests on Saturday afternoon/evening. Organizing something like this is quite a challenge for the catering team and the other helpers. In retrospect, we're happy to say it was a success, and our guests went home feeling satisfied.

People who don't meet every day, and now like this, is special and wonderful to experience.

On Wednesday, October 15th, a trailer arrived, which we loaded with the destination Breaza. We were able to put together another nice load. Around noon, it was full and headed to Venlo for the train journey to Romania. Meanwhile, Nico and Piet had driven to Amsterdam with a trailer and returned at 1 p.m. So we were able to unload these, as well as the small box truck and trailer, which had also returned from their trip. We also started creating space for the BBQ.

On Thursday, October 16th, we continued with this, and Sam delivered the lamps and other decorations. Guusje came to clean and immediately got busy. A considerable amount of new stock arrived that afternoon. So, there were quite a few things to consider. The general outline was set, including the solution: how to keep the hall at a reasonable temperature. On Friday, Rob, Hesva, and Liesbeth came to put the finishing touches on things.

On Thursday, October 16th, the trailer we had loaded the previous week was unloaded in Breaza. The truck destined for Diaconia also arrived safely and is now in Reghin.

Viorel and Elena from Deaj have sent another impressive photo report this time. The Verkade cookie tins have found an unexpected destination. Summer is over, and help for these poor wretches is desperately needed, especially for the many children. We are in a position to do something about this, and we certainly shouldn't hesitate. There are already enough people who ignore this population group.

Marin and Eniko have had a busy week. For those in the know, Sarah's sister passed away, and Marin arranged the funeral. Sarah needs extra care; she's very thin and, I think, doesn't quite know what to do anymore.

Joszi from Tirgu Mures has sent another photo report of the activities to help the people in his area.

Next Wednesday, we'll be loading a trailer that will first stop in Marghita and then continue to Cristi in Botosani.

The Christmas gift wrapping campaign will take place on November 20th and 21st. Decisions still needed to be made about how and where to order, but this has now been finalized. If everything goes according to plan, the contents of the packages will be very good. The people in Romania are already looking forward to it.
