Weekly update 38/25 Engels

It was back to work again this past week. For example, I had to catch up on phone calls, apps, and emails.

I wrote about the trailer loaded for Jorg Breddermann last time. In addition, Jorg sent several photos of the unloading and distribution, including in Odessa. This was very welcome help for the people living under difficult circumstances there.

Here's a link to some photos.

Last Monday, September 22nd, the trailer loaded in Broek op Langedijk on September 17th was unloaded in Breaza. Customers immediately lined up; the network there is functioning well. We reach the poorest and most vulnerable people with it.

Imola has focused more on elderly care, including the social aspects. Just like in the Netherlands, loneliness is a real threat for the elderly in Romania. Several times a week, activities are held in an outbuilding on their property, which is mainly used by women. This time, there was a gathering for these people from the region at the Breaza community center. Below is a photo album of it.

On Wednesday, we loaded a trailer with two destinations: Marghita first and Breaza second. The driver arrived on time and left for Venlo around noon, where the trailer was loaded onto the train. The pickups also went smoothly, and everyone was able to go home on time.

On Thursday, September 25th, there was another major pickup; our supplies are well-stocked.

On Friday, September 26th, the trailer, which had been loaded on Tuesday, September 23rd, arrived at the farm in Marghita to unload. Sixteen tons of wheat flour arrived from the flour mill that buys the wheat harvested on the farm. The price is attractive, about half the retail price here. The motorcycles we used for this fantastic motorcycle trip returned on the same transport.

I'm sharing the photos I received from my contacts in Romania. Due to time constraints, they're without accompanying explanations. The photos speak for themselves.

Marin and Eniko have cooked again for the children in their neighborhood in Band and for several elderly people. They've also renovated a small house. Another one is currently under construction. All very simple by our standards. When you see the enormous number of far too small and poorly built huts, you know this is a huge step forward.

Reghina from Ticau is important to the people around her; she continues to dedicate herself to them.

Henk Muller has a busy and varied life; this time, a photo album without his explanation.

Joszi from Tirgu Mures also does his utmost to help children and adults in his community.

Viorel and Elena's work area is growing, and I'm sometimes amazed at how they manage it all. It's good that such people exist; looking out for each other isn't something everyone takes for granted.

In Romania, people are amazed at how many people in our country volunteer in all sorts of areas. For us, this is normal and important, but it's not so common everywhere.

Given our inventory, it's necessary to load two trailers next Wednesday. Both will be destined for Breaza. Consultation with local staff has made it clear that this is feasible.

The wheat flour will be included in the Christmas hampers. For our part-time volunteers, we've already set the date: November 20th and 21st are the production days.

Registration for the BBQ is going well; it will be on Saturday, October 18th.
