Weekly update 6/22
On Wednesday 9 February the sixth truck with relief supplies was sent to Romania . The destination was Breaza where the truck was unloaded on Saturday 12 February. Loading with a small group went well. Another team was bringing things to St. Hrif in Weesp, then collecting them in Hoorn and Heerhugowaard. A second team has done pick-up jobs in Schagen and Egmond. So it was another day well spent. The rest of the week passed relatively quietly.
Inci and Domien from Salard were able to pick up the stuff from the farm in Marghita that we recently brought there. For many years they have been helping the people in Salard who need help. The children who are taught there have the chance of a better future. The program with the elderly gives these people support and they are less alone. The home care program is important for those who need medical help and care.
Reghina from Ticau had to contend with a broken alternator in her Opel combo. She could do something with someone else's car.
Gerrit van der Starre of the Emeth foundation sent a newsletter, good to read, it gives some more insight into what is happening in Ticau and the surrounding area.
Here is the link to this newsletter.
The unloading in Breaza on Saturday 12 February went smoothly, the weather
conditions were good and help from the Netherlands was present. Gerard-Jan and Miranda Schuur are visiting their granddaughter's birthday and her parents in Tirgu Mures. They take the opportunity to visit some of the projects we support.
Imola has posted a new post on her blog, this time about the importance of providing food parcels to the elderly in the village.

Henk Muller sent pictures of his experiences in and around Deaj last week. The way of assistance provided by Henk and Viorel is very direct and gives a good insight into how the poorest part of the Romanian population lives or survives.
The baking of bread has been stopped for a while, the oven of Viorel had to be repaired, it is expected that it will continue next week. The latest request for help is roofing sheets for a house under construction in the village of Band. I wrote about this earlier in blog no. 1 of this year.
The seed potatoes that we were able to supply last year produced a very good harvest. Henk's question is whether we can repeat this this season. We will be tapping our resources again next week.
Cristi is now making real progress with the new construction of the boarding school next to Casa Ioana, the windows and doors were placed this week.
The corona pandemic is changing in character, there are still a lot of infections, but the consequences are less serious. Slowly everything goes back to a more normal situation. It has therefore been decided to make the packages that we will have distributed around Easter in Romania in Broek op Langedijk. On Thursday 31 March and Friday 1 April we will fill the boxes, those days we can really use your help. We'll send another email with the details.
Next Wednesday we will load for Botosani, first unload a part at the beautiful farm in Marghita. There, super farmer Attila ensures that potatoes and carrots are loaded.
