Weekly update 4/22

On Wednesday 28 January we loaded the 4th truck with relief supplies this year.

The cargo is destined for Breaza, from there it goes to sub distribution points in the region. A group of people from Aalsmeer had organized a collection for Phoneo from Reghin, we also sent this pallet. Just like a batch of bread mix and some other stuff for Henk and Viorel from the village of Deaj.

There were some pick-up jobs again, together with the goods that are delivered, we still have a large stock. Picking up eight hospital beds in Amsterdam did not go smoothly, we returned with four, which we still had a lot of work on. We are going to make new agreements with this supplier.

Monday January 24 the truck that we had loaded on January 19 was unloaded in Botosani. It was quite cold but it worked, Cristi wrote an explanation to the photos, worth reading. The hospital beds are stored in a warehouse belonging to a friend of Cristi's who is taking care of onward transport to the Ukraine.

Next Monday and Tuesday the homeless in Botosani will receive a meal. This is thanks to a sponsor of ours and the arrangement with a catering service that Cristi has made. Life is extra hard for them in the winter, it's great that we can help these people a little too.

A lot of work has also been done on the new construction at Casa Ioana. The building materials from BMN from Delft have also come in handy, for example a wall made of sand-lime bricks that we recently brought, a nice saving in construction costs.

Prices are skyrocketing in Romania, especially energy and food prices at the moment, putting many people in serious trouble. Especially now that it is a real winter in Romania with snow and cold. My expectation is that many people will not be able to pay the bill and will be cut off from electricity and gas. This topic will be discussed more often shortly.

Reghina from Ticau continues to hand out, next Wednesday we will load part of a trailer for her.

The truck we loaded for Breaza on Wednesday was already at its destination on Friday morning. They will start distribution next week. Henk Muller can then start using a batch of bread mix, I'll be curious if this will be a success. A pig of theirs was slaughtered at Csaba and Imola on Saturday, a big job with a nice result.

Henk Muller and Viorel from Deaj again sent photos and an explanation of their
activities. Good to see, gives a nice insight into what is going on. Last week I posted the wrong photo series, now twice a series.

Next Wednesday we will load with destination Marghita and Ticau. We may also send something for Inci and Domain in Salard. We can also share some potatoes and carrots from the farm.

There is a pick-up job on Monday and a car goes to the Waypoint thrift store in Urk on Tuesday.
