Weekly update 2/25 Engels
The first real “working week” of the year there was a lot to do for our volunteers. For example, there are always clean-up jobs.
On Tuesday 7 January Siem had another pick-up job.
On Wednesday 8 January we first loaded a trailer, which was destined for Breaza. The driver was at the door on time and there were quite a few volunteers. With combined efforts we managed to fill the trailer by around 12:00.
In the meantime Jörg Breddermann from Germany had also arrived. Jörg is committed with heart and soul to people in need in Ukraine. Unfortunately, there are only more of them because of the miserable war there. After lunch we started loading, a nice amount of food, cookies, clothing, medical supplies etc. was taken along. We don't have to doubt whether this will end up well. If it works out, he will continue to the farm in Marghita after unloading the trailer to load potatoes and vegetables there. This cargo is again being delivered to the people he looks after in Ukraine. It's great that we can help make this possible.

The collection jobs also went well, so it was a useful day.
Early on Friday morning, 10 January, Gerard-Jan did another big collection job, fortunately we now have a nice stock again.
Our New Year's reception on 10 January was well attended, despite a number of cancellations, mainly caused by the flu epidemic. The canteen of the fire station is a great location for this, great that we were able to use it again. The presentation about what we do and especially about where it ends up, was appreciated. The catering was great, Rob and Hesva simply organised it wonderfully again. It was good that we could meet each other in this atmosphere at the beginning of the year. Also a great opportunity to announce the date of the Easter package campaign (13 and 14 March) and the PLMA trade fair (21 May).
Marin from Band sent photos of the four-year-old girl who died in the fire I wrote about last time. She has since been buried. Construction of the new house has now started.

The eating, cooking and distribution of food and briquettes has also been done.

Henk Muller is on a trip, he also came to our New Year's reception. In the photo album below you can find a report of his experiences.

Peter Nagel sent photos of the distribution in and around his hometown Minis. There too there are plenty of poor and especially elderly people who could really use a helping hand.

Marin Kroon from Floresti sent a report of the package campaign.

Viorel and Elena from Deaj have just done a lot of work every week. These soup kitchen, or soup bus activities under these winter conditions are not easy. It's great that they're doing it, these people really lack everything. It's going so slowly to change anything here, too bad but it's a harsh reality. We're going to try to meet the demand for clothing and shoes.
Joszi from Tirgu Mures also sent a photo report. In addition to the soup kitchen, there is also a place where the children can shower and get clean clothes, just like they can do their homework for school. It's good that this basis exists, it's very important for these children.
Next Wednesday we're going to load a trailer that will be given the destination Marghita.
