Weekly update 4/23
This is the first blog I'm writing on my new computer so it takes some getting used to. The photo albums are not working perfectly yet, placing text between the photos is not (yet) possible.
It has been another fruitful week, we have been able to do a lot. The first collection job was on Tuesday. We had a nice stock to load some of the next day.
Right on time, a truck was at our door on Wednesday, January 24, which could be loaded for destination Botosani. In addition to loading, there were collection jobs to be done, as well as cleaning up and sorting.
About lunchtime the trailer was completely full with a valuable load of relief supplies. Also a batch of garden seeds, for example, useful and also reminiscent of spring.
Here is the link to photos of the loading.
In Breaza they stood in line to pick up the goods that we had loaded the week before in Broek op Langedijk. It was cold and then the lack of food and warmth became even more apparent. Csaba from Breaza was able to buy three pallets of pressed wood briquettes for the people in Band. People were very grateful for it. Just like with the food and cake that Csaba brought there.
Imola has made a photo album of the unloading and also photos of the places where it ended up
Here is the link to this album.
The truck we loaded on Wednesday was able to cross the border between Hungary and Romania on Friday. With some delay because something had to be changed in the documents. Unloading took place in Botosani on Saturday, despite the snow and slippery conditions there was a lot of joy at the arrival of this cargo.
Here is the link to photos of the unloading.
Henk and Marin from Band have been busy helping their fellow man. Handing out the
wood briquettes and food, still building something despite the cold weather and so on.
Toth Attila from Peris finally has no more problems with African swine fever on his farm with woolly pigs. All pigs ready for slaughter have now been sold, the proceeds are needed to continue to pay the costs of the orphanage.
Reghina from Ticau is also happy with our support. This makes it possible for her to continue helping people in need.
Then Viorel and Elena, they also continue to provide help tirelessly. The photos and messages make it clear every week how necessary this is.
The construction of Kata's house in Bichis that I wrote about earlier is now a few steps further. Very special how this all works, it is going to be a beautiful chalet.
The wheat from the farm has been sold and shipped. Wheat prices are worryingly low. Partly thanks to the protests, farmers in Romania have received a promise from the government that they will receive an extra hectare allowance.
I have now received photos of the freight that we sent to Ukraine together with St. Caritas. It's great that we can work together in this way to help the severely affected population there.
Next Wednesday there will be a trailer that we will load for Marghita. The following week we will load for Ukraine together with St. Caritas from de Rijp.
