Weekly update 1/24
We started our activities in the new year with good courage. The plan was to load the first truck on Wednesday, January 3. Unfortunately, this could not go ahead, the truck that was planned for this could not deliver its load at its last unloading address. A day later this had not yet been achieved. There were plenty of other jobs, but we would have preferred to send relief supplies.
To solve this, we will be loading two of them next week. The first will arrive on Monday afternoon, January 8, we will load it on Tuesday, January 9, there is already a loading team. The cargo goes to Marien Kroon in Floresti and the majority to Breaza.
It is not yet entirely certain on which day the second will occur. In collaboration with Jan Pilkes of the Caritas Ukraine-Holland Foundation, it will be destined for Ukraine. Stichting Promotie provides a nice load and pays the freight costs. Jan Pilkes takes care of the organization, including assistance with loading. The freight goes to a contact of St. Caritas, a church community in Nowa Odessa. Here is the link to this place on the map... It is far from harmless there, the horrific war is close by. You never know where the unscrupulous leader in the Kremlin will drop bombs.
You need to have the right contacts and follow exactly the right procedures to get an aid transport into Ukraine. We miss the experience that Jan has with this. The need is great in Ukraine, the war kills many people every day on both sides. Help comes to the right place through Jan's trusted contacts. We have also already talked about helping "our" Igor from Chernivtsi. This has become very difficult from Botosani, but this may be possible in the near future via Caritas.
Henk and Marin from Band are busy at work. On Wednesday the request for help with the construction of a house came, fortunately we were able to respond positively. Construction started on Thursday! It was also possible to have a mobility scooter fitted with new batteries. For the rest, the photo album below makes it clear that our help is well received and desperately needed.

Viorel and Elena from Deaj have been baking bread and providing food for children. Bread baked from wheat by Attila from Marghita, it's great that we were able to make this possible. Amazing what these people do.
Joszi from the soup kitchen for children in Tirgu Mures sent an extensive one photo report of their work there. The images do not require much explanation and show that our help is also very important there. You never cease to be amazed that this is possible on the outskirts of a big city.
Imola has posted some new posts on her blog. These also give a good impression of where our help ends up and how necessary it is.

Domien and Inci from Salard have made a report about the distribution of Christmas packages from Broek op Langedijk. Parcels also went to very poor people who live in poor shacks in deserted places.
Here is the link to this report.
All in all, we are moving a lot and helping many people. There are collection jobs and other work on Wednesday.
The New Year's reception is on Friday, January 12. See previous messages about times and registration.
