Weekly update 52/23

I didn't intend to post on our blog again this year. However, so many messages and photos came in that I couldn't resist sharing them.

On Wednesday, December 27, we were with a small group and did some pick-up jobs. The warehouse has been cleaned up. There is a nice amount of very useful products in our storage. We can load the first truck in 2024 on January 3.


The weekly report from Deja is impressive again. It is very important what Elena and Viorel do for their fellow man.

Going hungry in the cold is just really bad. Many families lack everything, including food. This is a complete disaster, especially for children.

It's great that we can support Viorel and Elena with their work.

Pieter Nagel has finished handing out the packages, in the photos you can see that they mainly ended up with older people. Help is also desperately needed for these people. Fortunately, Pieter has recovered well.

Henk Muller is running in top gear and is doing a lot. The photo album below gives a nice impression of this.

What a blessing it would be if the Romanian government took serious action on combating poverty.

In Ticau there was another wonderful Christmas celebration, also for the children.

Reghina also set out to make food for people in need. Just on a table by the side of the road, enough people came to eat it tasty. There is also music.

Cristi from Botosani was able to distribute. In addition to our stuff, also from other organizations. Good to see that they look after each other in that way.

Weekly update 7/24

Last week we shipped a trailer that will cover part of the route to Breaza by train. This concerns the stretch from Cologne to Arad, the trailer went on the train in Cologne and in Arad another tractor picks it up again for the last stretch to Breaza. We want to gain experience with this and thus avoid the crowds and controls at the Hungary/Romania border. On Wednesday, February 14, the loading of this trailer went well, there was quite a bit of repacking work and we were able to load a beautifully varied trailer with relief goods. The driver had to wait a little longer for his papers, Mission & Relief from Zevenhuizen produced additional documents. At 1:30 PM the driver headed to the terminal in Cologne. I don't know (yet) where the trailer is, we'll hear more about this early next week. Here is the link to photos. Weekly update 14/24

Another great week behind us with a lot of work done. On Wednesday, April 3, there were collection and clean-up jobs and stock from our temporary storage was brought back to the Dulleweg. On Thursday, April 4, there was a clothing campaign in a store in Heerhugowaard. And on Friday April 6, two trucks came to load. As a result, all the last 2.600 Easter packages are now on their way to Romania. A few photos of the loading. Csaba from Breaza has been busy delivering the first shipment of packages. The Phoneo Foundation from Reghin allows him to use a very handy van for this purpose. Many packages have already been delivered to people's homes. The rumors are spreading fast and he has already received questions: when are you coming to us? Weekly update 20/24

Yesterday Nico and I returned home safely from a useful and interesting trip to Romania. The main goal was to discuss the progress and the start of the season on the farm in Marghita with Attila. We were lucky with the weather, it was really spring, and the sowing and planting was in full swing. A beautiful period when you see what happens until the harvest period. I have often written that farmers in Romania are having a hard time due to... the low prices they receive for their products. Unfortunately, quite a few are now in danger of going under. Attila buys a large part of his planting material from a company in Hungary. A modern and large company that grows seeds into small plants under optimal conditions. During the tour we received, I asked, among other things, how future-proof this activity is. The answer was simple – as long as people continue to eat, this will continue.
