Weekly update 51/23

No truck was loaded on Wednesday, December 20. Our storage had been cleaned up and goods had to be collected. It has still been a busy day. The volunteers went home with a nice Christmas package, made available by Van den Heerik b.v. A token of appreciation that was very much appreciated.

Jan Pilkes from the Caritas Ukraine-Holland Foundation unexpectedly received another truck to load for his projects in Ukraine. We were able to donate some of the stock. A nice load of relief goods left De Rijp on Tuesday, December 19.

Transport to and from Ukraine has become particularly difficult. Trucks carrying relief goods or food and tankers, etc., are slightly less affected, but the queues at the borders are very long. Cristi sent a video of the enormous queues of trucks going from Romania into Ukraine.

Here is the link to this video.

It is impossible to predict how this will all continue in Ukraine. An awful lot of people are in trouble and are having a hard time. It seems that human lives do not count for some people in power.

The trucks entering Romania from Hungary have been subject to stricter checks than before for some time now. Not only by customs but also by the service that must ensure food safety and the environment. Cristi sent a few newspaper articles about it.

The last two trucks we shipped were also delayed as a result. Some new rules were activated. The papers had to be edited and translated into Romanian. Thanks to Attila, Andrea and other farm team members we were able to solve this along with some other "problems".

Reghina from Ticau also received a new stock, she was very happy with it. Immediately started handing out. The house that was built for a serious problem case has been put into use. The video clearly shows how happy this family is with this.

Cristi from Botosani can continue handing out again. It's a shame that Igor from Ukraine cannot come and pick him up. The Christmas packages arrived safely in Botosani.

Phoneo from Reghin has also finished handing out the packages, people were also very happy with them. The shoe boxes that we brought to Reghin for a group from Friesland also ended up well.

Henk and Marin from Band have been very busy lately. I try to summarize the main points.

A fire has broken out in the house of an 80-year-old woman. Luckily she survived.
Henk and Marin immediately took action, Henk appealed via Facebook to donate money for the reconstruction. This was achieved in a very short time. The clearing and rebuilding started immediately and will be completed this year.

A children's party has been organized for children. A "Christmas meal" was prepared and many relief supplies were distributed. Nice to see that our help also ends up here.

Pieter Nagel sent a newsletter. Their children are increasingly taking over the work. It's great that this continues, the need is obvious.

Viorel and Elena from Deja have not been sitting idle either. It is an impressive weekly report. The images speak for themselves, I don't have much to add.

Imola and Csaba in Breaza have been busy. The last transport also brought potatoes, carrots, onions and other vegetables, as well as 1,000 kilos of flour. This is loaded in Marghita on the farm there. Because of the risk of frostbite, Csaba wanted to distribute this as quickly as possible. This was all successful, the photos will follow.

Now we are busy preparing for the Christmas celebration. The photos below are from previous deliveries, including beds from the Alkmaar hospice. Just wondering where this is.

There are still a few chores on Wednesday, but not everyone has to come. We will load again in the new year.

We will hold the New Year's reception on January 12 in the Heerhugowaard fire station. The hall is open from 4:00 PM.

We wish you a Merry and Blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year..
