Weekly update 49/23

On Tuesday, December 5, we were able to replenish our stock with beautiful and usable goods. On Wednesday, December 6, the truck that came to load for Breaza arrived in Broek op Langedijk on time, even with double crew. There was a lot of stacking and repacking work, so a lot of work had to be done. It was cold in the warehouse so that helped to maintain the temperature. At 1:00 PM a very nice load left for Breaza.

There were still collection jobs, fortunately there were enough volunteers to help. Without the efforts of all these people it simply wouldn't work.

The distribution of Christmas packages in Romania is now well underway.

Reghina from Ticau sent photos. Handing out hot food on a table along the road, handing out food and handing out Christmas parcels. Have a house built to replace a very dilapidated building. It is all meaningful work, at this time of year it is extra important to have someone like Reghina in the middle.

Aid to Ukraine is very difficult at the moment, the rules at the borders have been tightened. The procedures are complicated, there are protests from Polish drivers, etc. etc.. Help is needed right now, but the influx has come to a standstill. The weather doesn't cooperate either, wet, cold and there is a lot of snow in the mountains. Meanwhile, the end of this crazy war is nowhere in sight. A sad and hopeless situation for many people.

Until recently, Igor and his friends from Ukraine regularly came to collect the goods we brought from the depot in Botosani. Unfortunately that is not possible at the moment, it does not give a good feeling.

Cristi distributes the packages in and around Botosani. Cristi sends a message thanking us for our efforts, along with an explanation of the situation on the ground.

Csaba and Imola are really busy now, the trucks with relief goods are coming in one after the other. The truck we loaded last Wednesday was already unloaded there on Friday afternoon. We will load the next one next Wednesday. It makes a lot of difference there. Their contacts can do more than before, so we reach more and more people who could use some support. Imola wrote about this on their blog.

Henk Muller is in the Netherlands for a while due to the funeral of a good friend. The work in Romania does not stand still, Marin sent a number of photos of the distribution of goods. The stock in Breaza is at a good level thanks to the truck that we loaded for this destination on Wednesday. Undoubtedly some of that goes to Band and the surrounding area. Henk also visited some of his contacts. I don't know how, but he got a Ford Transit for his work in Romania. There is a problem with the engine, they can fix it in Romania, according to Henk. The Ford comes to Broek op Langedijk and in January he goes to Romania in a truck with relief supplies. I personally hope that someone in our circle can find the solution to the engine problem.

In Floresti, Marien Kroon has started handing out the Christmas packages. He sent a few photos of the distribution to Roma families in the Pata Rat district. This is in close proximity to the infamous Cluj Napoca dump.

Toth Attila from Peris is busy with everything and also with handing out the packages.

From Getz I received another series of photos of children in the after-school care there. It gives a good feeling that positive changes can be seen. We do not do our work in vain or without results.

Finally, the impressive weekly report from Viorel and Elena. A great achievement, building houses in Haranglab, very simple but dry, free of vermin and it can be heated. It is enormous progress for these people. Baking bread, handing out parcels and a meal for the homeless in Tirgu Mures. Not to forget the children's programme. It's quite something, it's good that we support this. Csaba and Imola play an important role in this as an indispensable link.

The stock unexpectedly increased considerably last Thursday and Friday, a positive development. Instead of one truck, we can load two next Wednesday. One will go to Botosani and the second will have three destinations Marghita, Floresti and Breaza.

I think this will make many people happy, although many of them will have no idea how this is possible and what is behind it.
