Weekly update 6/23

Every week there are things that are worth sharing, also this week.

On Monday, Jan Kuyer is sorting the medical items, sometimes with someone else's help. Keeping the canteen and toilet group clean is also necessary, Hesva Booden does this on Mondays these days. Without a fuss, this happens every week.

Tuesday there was a collection job in Nijkerk and Amsterdam, Piet and Gerrit thought this was a nice job. In Nijkerk a batch of new clothing was ready for us, a surplus from the clothing industry. It's nice that we can distribute this in a poor country like Romania.

On Tuesday afternoon, February 7, the truck was already at our door that we would load on Wednesday. Loading on Wednesday went smoothly, another nice usable load including three pallets of special cakes from our neighbor Hekos. Lots of tasty things and foodstuffs, but also ten beautiful hospital beds, for example. The truck left shortly after noon for Breaza. We informed the driver about the extra checks of aid transports lately. He was not impressed and knew what to do with it, he said.

The collection jobs also went well, with a group of 20 people we managed to get a lot of work done.

Thursday we were able to pick up food in Amsterdam. From our stock we brought two pallets of ladies bandages to St. HRIF in Weesp. Max Veenstra had made a call to make products available for the disaster in Turkey. As you know, Max has an enormous network in humanitarian aid and providing aid after disasters. Two aircraft were made available to him from his network, as was transport from warehouses in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and England.

On Sunday, February 12, a plane will depart from Leipzig and another from Heathrow to Antana. The relief supplies arranged by Max are brought to the victims from there by the Red Cross. A very good performance in my opinion. DHL arranges the entire transport and is the main sponsor.

The truck we loaded on Wednesday crossed the border at Bors on Friday at 2 pm. Also now checked again, clothing threatened to become a problem. The driver solved it his way. The weekend he is with his family in Cluj and on Monday there will be unloading in Breaza.

I received a series of photos from Józsi from the soup kitchen for children (!) in Tirgu Mures, which I wrote about earlier. It's unbelievable how it all works. What would it be like for the children without this help? Józsi would also like us to help him improve the washing facilities. More space for this and just like more space for goods storage. His cost estimate is € 5,000. We hope we can get this done.

Henk Muller from Band is also someone who keeps going. The goods we bring there via the depot in Breaza help him with this.

Reghina from Ticau has also taken a nice action, she started cooking and handing out hot food. Important for these people, a bright spot in their difficult existence. I can understand her request for a contribution of € 500 to buy firewood.

Csaba from Breaza brought pallets to the farm in Marhghita and there potatoes, vegetables and flour. Again some extra possibilities to meet the many requests for food aid. Requests are becoming more and more a cry for help, I've never experienced it that bad.

On Imola's blog, there is an article by Elena from Urmenis. It is about the shepherd's family who have moved from the caravan to a new house. The third child has now been born, the mother is mentally retarded and the guidance takes a lot of effort. It will take some time for this family to lead a more normal life. Fortunately there is help from Elena, Csaba and Imola and also from the neighbors. Unfortunately, the father is not a caring type.

Virorel and Elena from Deaj have also received goods to continue their help to the many people who need it. The images speak for themselves.

Next Wednesday we will load a truck with destination Botosani with a stopover in Ticau.
