Weekly update 2/23

Unfortunately, it was not possible to get a Romanian trailer to load for Breaza. Goods traffic between Romania and our country has not yet got off to a good start.

Tuesday 10 January we were able to collect a very nice batch of flour, a considerable load and very useful. Especially now that there is a lot of hunger in Romania and Ukraine, this is a very welcome addition to the package we can offer.

On Wednesday there were still a number of collection jobs, as well as the necessary repacking work. We have not been idle with a large group of volunteers.

A few people were able to get to work on Thursday, goods were collected and brought in and out of our warehouse.

There is now so much that we will try to load two trailers next week. The first goes to Breaza and the second to Botosani with a stopover in Ticau near Reghina. I hope it works. Part of our stock will go via St. HIRF from Weesp to a collection point in Warsaw next week. From there it then goes to Ukraine with vans, a tried and tested concept that works well.

Jan Pilkes of St. Caritas from De Rijp also brings part of our stock to Ukraine. www.stichtingukraineholland.nl

On Friday, January 13, we held our New Year's reception in the Heerhugowaard fire station, a perfect location for this. Thank you fire brigade for letting us use this. The turnout was good, I don't know exactly, estimated between 80 and 90 people. After coffee with something delicious, there was a presentation about what will happen in 2022. As we know, that was a lot, our work is still useful and necessary. We reach a lot of really poor people with it.

The catering team had a lot of work to ensure that nothing was missing. It certainly contributed to making it a fun and interesting afternoon.

Here is the link to the presentation. It's a big file, I'm not sure if everyone can open or download it to the right program.

Photos were also taken, here's the link.

Cristi from Botosani sent pictures of the unloading of the truck we loaded on January 4. Just like the collection by his contacts from the Ukraine. Igor was also there and he is very happy with our help. His brother was in Bakhmut, near the front very exciting for Igor and his family. A new commander-in-chief has been appointed by Putin, who must prove himself. Heavy bombardments with many casualties were his first actions. The criminals of the Wagner group do the most horrible things. These are tough times for the people of this country. That so many lives are sacrificed for a completely incomprehensible purpose is incomprehensible.

The photo album below makes it clear again that the help we bring helps at least something.

Henk Muller left for Romania on Tuesday, friends of his distributed cake and other things from Broek op Langedijk to the homeless in Bucharest. Henk is concerned about how the people around him will survive the winter.

Reghina from Ticau was happy again with the support that made it possible to distribute food.
