Weekly update 48/22

We are back in the old-fashioned end of year crowds. Tuesday morning we loaded the last 1,060 Christmas packages, together with a large batch of groceries. A very valuable and useful cargo has been sent to Breaza. Loading with a small group went smoothly, at 11:30 am the driver left with his truck for Romania.

Last Friday it was unloaded in Breaza, it was immediately a coming and going of people who received Christmas packages and the like. foodstuffs arrived. Csaba and Imola have brought a consignment of food to the care home in Deda themselves. These types of homes are facing serious financial problems due to high energy costs, food prices and increased wage costs. Csaba and Imola have a good relationship with the people of this home, we have been helping them for many years and they are very happy with our help.

On Wednesday there were collection jobs and clean-up work, with the result that there is enough valuable and useful stock for the next transports. Friday was able to load at two addresses in the middle of the country, this has become a long day for Rob and Clement.

Henk Muller is in the Netherlands and has also brought a lot to Broek op Langedijk.

Just before leaving Romania, he sent a request for help with the construction of a
new house. It is unbelievable, at first it was not financially feasible for us to help these people with a warm and dry house. Fortunately, thanks to loyal sponsors, this has changed and we were also able to give "green light" for this.

The situation in Ukraine is deteriorating mainly due to the winter conditions and the ruthless atrocities taking place in this war. Many soldiers die every day at the front on both sides. It is dangerous, cold and wet in the trenches, truly unimaginable in 2022. Millions of people are fleeing, mainly to other places in Ukraine, further away from the front line.

Last time I shared a number of images made by Ronald Wolthuis on the way to Kherson. This album now also includes that of the arrival and distribution of the goods. Ronald and his team are now back in Reghin Romania.

Our help via Cristi from Botosani and Igor in the Ukraine is stagnating a bit. The blown tent has not yet been replaced by containers. The meals are now being brought to the various reception locations as best they can. Sports halls, schools, in people's homes. Collecting the stock from Cristi has become more difficult, the lines waiting at the border have become even longer. The last time it took 16 hours to cross the border with a delivery van of relief goods. An important cause is the loss of electricity, which means that the computers no longer work. We hope that this will improve quickly and that telephone contact with Igor will return to normal.

Here is the link with photos of the truck that loaded on Thursday, November 29.

On Monday, this truck unloaded the packages for Pieter Nagel at the farm, where 1,700 kg of potatoes were loaded and then unloaded at Reghina in Ticau.

A while ago I wrote about people who came to live in an empty house in a village near
Urmenis. Below this message again. Csaba from Breaza was able to call in the construction team again to complete this job as well. We were also able to say yes to this thanks to loyal sponsors (!). These people's lives get a step in the right direction. The next step is eye surgery for the man who is blind (neglected cataracts?).

There will also be an eco toilet in the garden.

Elena "our social worker" from Urmenis shared pictures and sent a thank you about the breakfast project there. She is happy and grateful to be able to do this. The Red Cross is handing out breakfast packages in the prosperous Netherlands! How necessary would this be in a poor country like Romania?

Through Imola I received pictures of Mucui Joszef's bathing project in Tirgu Mures. Besides food, they now also get a shower and clean clothes.

Viorel and Elena also worked hard and provided a meal to homeless people in Tirgu Mures. And help the people around them. Very nice that we can help make this possible.

From Monday to Friday I will be traveling in Romania with Nico and Gerrit, we will go to Marghita and Breaza.

The following week we will load two trailers, one will go to Botosani and the other to Breaza.
