Weekly update 42/22

As we all know, the war in Ukraine is going in all directions. The Ukrainians seem to be gaining ground. This while Russia hits civilian targets with drones from Iran and other weapons and damages the infrastructure. It is almost impossible to comprehend.

A meal at a local church.
The relief goods brought by us arrive at our depot in Botosani via Cristi's network there, in the Ukraine. Igor is also an important link with his soup kitchen in Chernivtsi and help on the front line. Requests are now coming in via Igor about clothing, especially thermal clothing, also for the soldiers. Life is hard in Ukraine, good that we can help. The photo album below gives a good impression of the events there on both sides of the border.

Last Wednesday we were able to put together a nice cargo that was brought to Marghita in Romania. There were some pick-up jobs again, great that we can all do this. The importance of our work is only increasing. Not so long ago we thought that the increasing prosperity in Romania would reduce its importance. Putin's incomprehensible twists and turns have completely wrecked this. We hope that our volunteers and sponsors will continue to help us with our way of providing assistance.

Ronald and Pauline are active on all kinds of fronts with the team of the Phoneo Foundation from Reghin. Recently I received a message about building a house. Ronald is busy getting food and other aid into the Ukraine. The Gain Foundation is an important partner of his in this.

Csaba and Imola also receive more and more requests for help, the truck loads we bring there are distributed in no time. The pallets with tasty apples that we have been bringing there lately are also in great demand.

The construction of the house for the inhabitants of the rickety caravan (weekly report 38) is progressing well. It looks great, real craftsmanship, a simple, sturdy, well-insulated house. The new residents can start living there in the short term.

Viorel and Elena from Deaj are working every week with relief efforts in their area and providing a meal at the homeless center in Tirgu Mures. Just good work that more people should do. Especially those who are involved in this professionally should bring about change.

The truck we loaded on Wednesday was unloaded in Marghita on Friday afternoon. The distribution has already started. Inci and Domien came by. Pieter Nagel from Minis comes to collect goods, this together with potatoes and vegetables. Also for Pieter his friend from Tinca from the special care center there.

After unloading, the truck is loaded again with foodstuffs that we bought in Marghita at the Penny market. The price difference with the Netherlands for certain products is so great that we have done it this way. Wednesday the truck will be in Broek op Langedijk after unloading we will load it again for Botosani. If it works out, another truck will arrive and we will load it for Breaza.

Let's continue with this beautiful work now
