Weekly update 31/22

We have had a relatively quiet week. On Wednesday August 3, despite the holiday period, fortunately enough volunteers showed up to load a trailer. This time with destination Breaza. The hospital beds from the De Daalder care center in Alkmaar, part of Magentazorg, are given a second life in Romania through our depot in Breaza. At 1 pm the truck left for Breaza where it was already unloaded on Friday afternoon. Imola and Csaba will start distribution next Monday. There were also pick-up jobs, this went well so everyone could go home on time.

Cristi from Botosani has again been able to load a number of vans with mainly food for aid to the victims of the war in the Ukraine.

To their surprise, a family suddenly appeared on the doorstep. The father of the family grew up in Casa Ioana. He left Casa Ioana twenty years ago as a young man of 18 years old. He now lives in Bucharest with his family, a nice moment for everyone, many memories came up.

Paul the pastor of the Reformed church Getz has organized children's camps, great for these children. It concerns the Exodus Camp for Kids and Youngsters 2022.

On Saturday I received a message from Pakistan from Dr. Shadd. Quite some time ago, Shadd studied in Romania with the aim of becoming a doctor. During that period I got to know him and had some interesting encounters with him. After his training he opened a clinic in Pakistan and shares his experiences with us.

Besides that, he also takes care of the many weaker people in society there.

Weekly update 7/24

Last week we shipped a trailer that will cover part of the route to Breaza by train. This concerns the stretch from Cologne to Arad, the trailer went on the train in Cologne and in Arad another tractor picks it up again for the last stretch to Breaza. We want to gain experience with this and thus avoid the crowds and controls at the Hungary/Romania border. On Wednesday, February 14, the loading of this trailer went well, there was quite a bit of repacking work and we were able to load a beautifully varied trailer with relief goods. The driver had to wait a little longer for his papers, Mission & Relief from Zevenhuizen produced additional documents. At 1:30 PM the driver headed to the terminal in Cologne. Weekly update 14/24

Another great week behind us with a lot of work done. On Wednesday, April 3, there were collection and clean-up jobs and stock from our temporary storage was brought back to the Dulleweg. On Thursday, April 4, there was a clothing campaign in a store in Heerhugowaard. And on Friday April 6, two trucks came to load. As a result, all the last 2.600 Easter packages are now on their way to Romania. A few photos of the loading. Csaba from Breaza has been busy delivering the first shipment of packages. The Phoneo Foundation from Reghin allows him to use a very handy van for this purpose. Many packages have already been delivered to people's homes. The rumors are spreading fast and he has already received questions: when are you coming to us? Weekly update 20/24

Yesterday Nico and I returned home safely from a useful and interesting trip to Romania. The main goal was to discuss the progress and the start of the season on the farm in Marghita with Attila. We were lucky with the weather, it was really spring, and the sowing and planting was in full swing. A beautiful period when you see what happens until the harvest period. I have often written that farmers in Romania are having a hard time due to... the low prices they receive for their products. Unfortunately, quite a few are now in danger of going under. Attila buys a large part of his planting material from a company in Hungary. A modern and large company that grows seeds into small plants under optimal conditions. During the tour we received, I asked, among other things, how future-proof this activity is. The answer was simple – as long as people continue to eat, this will continue.
