Weekly update 27/22
Heerhugowaard and Langedijk have merged into the new municipality of Dijk en Waard. In this context, there will be, among other things, new walking routes containing plastic tiles with photos and images of associations and foundations. A QR code will also appear in the tile, after scanning this with your smartphone, a video about the activities of this club will appear. Atelier Six will carry out this project. On Tuesday 5 July, Rien Bakker from Atelier Zes came to visit to make a film about our work.

The same morning Wim Bos from Weesp brought a number of pallets of food and a pallet with booklets about the gospel in the Ukrainian language. Via Cristi from Botosani, they go to an organization in the town of Volovăţ, not far from the border with the Ukraine.
Wednesday, July 6, we loaded the goods made available by the Vomar, as I wrote in the previous blog, these are destined for the Ukraine. Supplemented with goods from our own stock, it has become a beautiful and valuable cargo. Cristi will take care of further distribution in Ukraine through his contacts. The war there goes on and on, claiming new victims every day. Wikipedia lists all these terrible events in chronological order.
Due to the holiday period there are fewer volunteers than usual, the loading and collection jobs also went well this time.
lightning, a fire started in the new building of Casa Ioana. A huge setback for Cristi and his team.
Here is the link to the photos.
Fortunately, Cristi quickly picks up the thread and is busy organizing the repair work. A rough estimate is that there is € 30,000 damage to the roof and walls. After that, the electricity and security installation must be made, costs of this?? Wooden beams for the roof have already been brought (cost € 7,000) and a construction team will come on Monday to demolish and rebuild. As the Promotion Foundation, we were able to transfer € 5,000 for the repair work. A church congregation from Germany has transferred the same amount, America has started holding a collection for a church congregation. The main sponsor has also returned to action in Denmark. During a trip to Romania this month we will also visit Cristi and discuss progress and funding.
Most of the goods from the last transport have already been distributed in Breaza. Various organizations hold children's camps at this time of year. The bottles of soft drink, the cake and candy came in handy.
A special exchange has also taken place in Breaza, Imola has made a photo album of it.
Here is the link to photos and explanation.
Toth Attila from Peris had a Hungarian wool pig slaughtered. It has also been busy with summer camps.
The goods sent via Breaza also ended up at Henk Muller, the photos of the distribution always give a good idea of what is happening there. The demand for help is only increasing in Henk's experience. It does not always seem easy for Henk to be confronted with the poverty-related problems of all these people on a daily basis.
Reghina from Ticau has also been busy organizing summer camps for children.
Attila from Marghita sent some photos of the harvest work. The rapeseed harvest went well, the wheat harvest also looks good. The price of potatoes and vegetables is lower than normal due to a lack of purchasing power. These are difficult times for the Romanian population. Absorbing the enormous price increase of food and energy, for example, requires difficult choices.
Viorel from Deaj informed us again about his activities in and around Deaj. I know from personal experience that delicious tomatoes grow in his simple greenhouses. It is striking how happy these people are driving back home with their families (see the last video).
Next Wednesday we will load for Breaza. There are also pick-up jobs. It's vacation time I hope the people who don't have vacation come to help. Friday we are going to pick up 85 mattresses in a nursing home on the Overtoom in Amsterdam, I hope a few people can help with this job.
If there are people who want to help Cristi with the restoration of the new construction of Casa Ioana, that is more than welcome. The bank account number of the Promotion Foundation is NL48RABO 0146 7573 78, stating 'Recovery Casa Ioana'.
