Weekly update 26/22
On Wednesday 29 June we were able to put together a nice cargo with destination Breaza. From here it goes to a very diverse group of aid workers in the region. Imola and Csaba's network has expanded considerably over the years, which is a great development.
Loading went smoothly and at 1 pm the Romanian truck and trailer left for Romania, it was the thirtieth load of relief goods we have shipped this year. The pick-up jobs were also finished at about 2 pm, good that there were quite a few volunteers again, it all went very smoothly.
The truck was unloaded on Saturday morning in Breaza, fortunately early in the morning because the temperature in Romania during the day is uncomfortably high, sometimes above 40 °C !! That is not healthy for humans and animals. The farmers are also anxiously waiting for rain, many crops are in bad shape due to the persistent drought.
Elena from Urmenis asks for support for her sandwich program during the schoolholidays. Because then the children get nothing to eat at school and there is a lot of food shortage at home. It is almost impossible to imagine from the Netherlands, but in Romania it is unfortunately more and more the harsh reality. Elena wants to help 20 children 6 days a week, it costs 1.25 euros per child per day. The program will run for two months. We can help her with it luckily. Nice that she does this in addition to her work as a social worker in the village. We came into contact with Elena many years ago through Imola and Csaba and have gained a lot of respect for her.
Attila, our manager of the farm in Marghita, sent some photos and messages about the harvesting work, Jaap and Geeske were visiting, they have now arrived in Botosani.
Paul from nearby Getz sent pictures of summer activities with the kids there.
Here is the link to the photos.
Reghina from Ticau was happy to have things to hand out again.
Toth Atilla from Peris sent some photos of refurbished houses on his property in which refugees from Ukraine now live. It's amazing how he manages all of this.
Viorel from Deaj has not been sitting still either and is doing a good job for the people in his village and beyond.
Henk Muller from Band sent a few more photos and a message about the plans for the coming week. It is also difficult for Henk to work with these high temperatures.
Cristi from Botosani sent some pictures of the distribution of the goods from the last load. Much gratitude for this.
Next Wednesday we will load a trailer with the food, diapers and care products that Vomar customers have given for the Ukraine. See last week's post. The cargo will go to Botosani and Cristi will arrange this further, he will also ensure a good report on the distribution.
On Wednesday we will also pick up 75 canteen chairs and 15 large tables at the Horizon college in Alkmaar. In addition, there are more pick-up jobs, so we hope for a good turnout of volunteers.
