Weekly update 19 and 20 2022
No update last week, now a summary of two weeks about what we have been doing in Broek op Langedijk and what happened to the relief goods we brought in Romania and the Ukraine.
A truck was loaded in Broek op Langedijk on Wednesday 11 May and unloaded in Breaza on Friday 13 May. It went smoothly and the load was distributed among several local emergency workers in the wider area of Breaza. Imola has updated her blog, which gives a good impression. Elena, social worker from Urmenis, writes about the incredibly low income of many people. A benefit of € 30 per month and some child benefit, almost unimaginable. In addition, sometimes a little income as a day laborer, often in the form of food. A lot of people have to do it in 2022.

On Tuesday 12 May, a truck with potatoes, carrots and onions arrived in Botosani from the farm in Marghita. It was almost immediately transferred to a whole series of vans from the Ukraine and Romania and with that taken into the Ukraine even as far as Kharkov. The accompanying photo album gives a good picture of how this goes. Very necessary and useful that we can contribute to this in this way.

Toth Attila from Peris sent of the activities there. Saturday 21 May there was a well-attended yard sale. The proceeds are for the children's home, we were able to send some suitable items for this. It was also time for some relaxation, you can see in the photos.
Reghina from Ticau has not been idle either, she also continues to provide assistance.

Viorel has been busy baking, the bake-off rolls were a success. It is also nice to see that the children have again received a meal in the school thanks to Viorel and his team. The commitment of these people is extremely important to keep life in these villages a bit livable.
Ronald Wolthuis and his team from St. Phoneo are busy transporting food from Romania into the Ukraine. From the farm in Marghita, Ronald and his team brought potatoes and onions to Ternopol, among others. The week before they were in Odesa.
On Tuesday 17 May we were able to replenish our stock of food, especially now very important. On Wednesday 18 May we were able to load a Romanian truck in Broek op Langedijk with very nice stuff, especially food that will be brought into the Ukraine for a large part. This was already the 25th truck with very useful and valuable relief supplies this year. We were able to contact Content b.v. in Dokkum. Pick up 14 pallets of curtain fabric. These go to a number of sewing workshops in Romania, another part goes via St. HRIF from Weesp to a sewing workshop in Iraq. There were also the normal pick-up jobs.
Next Monday, the third truck with potatoes and onions ordered by St. HRIF will leave the farm in Marghita for Halmeu. It's great that we can achieve this in this partnership. The realization of this by Attila the manager on the farm is perfect.
It is still a bit exciting whether enough volunteers will come to help with the “emptying” of the RAI on 1 June and with the sorting the days after. Read the call in the previous post. Those who have registered will receive an e-mail with more explanation during the week. If you have any questions or comments, calling is faster, my number is: 0628941795.
Wednesday 25 May we will load for the destination Breaza. We will also make preparations for the food collection campaigns in Amsterdam on 1 June.
In the coming week we have another surprise in store, more about that in the next update.
