Weekly update 18/22

The war violence in Ukraine has still not come to an end. It is hard to comprehend, what is happening there, it seems that for the dictator Vladimir Putin, human lives have no value.

From the start of this dark period, we have been sending as much relief as we can to help its victims, especially food. With his depot, Cristi from Botosani is an important link in this form of aid. In recent days he himself has been to the Ukraine with an aid transport, he has taken pictures of it and written an explanation. A major problem is the scarcity of diesel oil. Due to all the destruction of depots and refineries there are shortages, from Romania tankers bring diesel oil into the country. Thanks to a gift from America, Cristi was able to buy food from a wholesaler in Botosani, at a purchase price.

Attila has shipped a truck with potatoes, carrots and onions to Halmeu, from where it will be taken to various places in the Ukraine. It is a project that Max Veenstra/ HRIF Foundation supports. For the next two truckloads, each with 14 tons of potatoes, 4 tons of carrots and 4 tons of onions for the aid transport of Cristi and Ronald Wolthuis, Attila is still purchasing at the wholesale market in Oradea.

it looks very good.

The truck that we loaded in Broek op Langedijk on Wednesday 4 May first unloaded a part in Marghita on Friday 6 May and then the rest in Breaza. The distribution starts on Monday. I expect the many pallets with bake-off bread rolls to come in handy, there are options in various places to bake them and then divide them. For example in the oven of Viorel in Deaj. St. Manna's potatoes and onions will also be in great demand.

Here the link to pictures of the loading.

Henk Muller returned to work enthusiastically after recovering from his pneumonia. In the village of Band, he would like to do something to make the huts flooded by torrential rain habitable again. Thanks to our sponsors, we can help him with that. Much more should be done in this community, Henk is brimming with ideas. Henk's activities get things going, they make people think and give them hope for a better future.

Inci and Domien from Salard have written a report about the distribution of the packages.

Next Wednesday we will load for Breaza, especially hospital beds.

The Promotion Foundation has taken on a special job that can provide us with a lot of food.

Together with the Zending over Grenzen foundation from Almere, we are allowed to “empty” the stands there after a food fair in the RAI. This is expected to yield three trailers with foodstuffs. We can really use that right now.

On June 1, this event will start at 2:30 PM with the distribution of flyers to the exhibitors and from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM we will start collecting in teams and loading the trucks.

In total we need about 60 volunteers that day. Later in the week there will be sorting work in Broek op Langedijk.

Would you also like to help us on Wednesday 1 June or later in that week? If so, please respond to this message. We will then ensure that you receive more detailed information. It is our first time doing this, the people of Zending over Grenzen with experience are all enthusiastic about it. It is a special experience with a nice proceeds for a good cause.
