Weekly update 1/21

Tuesday 4 January there was a collection job in Enschede and in Tiel, a nice load, a good start to the year.

Because of the stock of nice stuff, we wanted to send a fully loaded truck to Romania in the 1st week of the new year. There was no truck available on Wednesday 5 January, but it finally worked on Thursday 6 January. The owner of a truck, which was waiting for cargo near Schiphol Airport, found out on Wednesday afternoon that a cargo was waiting for Romania in Broek op Langedijk. The Internet plays an important role in the supply and demand of freight for transport. The driver was happy to load with us, finally a ride home.

On Wednesday there was enough to clean up and pick up so that we could use the time usefully. On Thursday, with a small group, the first truck in 2022 with destination Breaza was quickly loaded, it left just after twelve o'clock. On Monday, the truck will unload from Cluj Napoca in Breaza.

On Friday there was another pick-up job in Amsterdam, a full week for our volunteers.

Toth Attila is very happy, finally the beautiful children's home he built in Peris can open, all permits have been completed. Childcare can start and the building will come to life. The demand for childcare is high, in many families there is poverty and partly because of this, relationship problems are increasingly occurring. This has resulted in more and more broken families where children get into trouble.

Henk Muller and Viorel do everything within their power to help people in their environment. There are again harrowing cases in Henk's report. Part of the load in the truck that will be unloaded on Monday in Breaza will go to Deaj.

From Salard, Inci and Domien sent a report of the distribution of the packages and also of their other activities. Nice and good work.

Reghina from Ticau started the year well, she was able to distribute stoves and firewood. The Opel Combo is a perfect car for her, great that we were able to arrange this. Gerrit van der Starre sent a letter of thanks regarding. the pleasant cooperation.

Cristi still had a few packages to distribute and he succeeded. In a photo I saw at garbage containers that a homeless person received a package. Cristi estimates there are about 50 in and around Botosani. At night they can use a simple sleeping place provided by the municipality. They have to arrange food themselves, soon we would like to surprise them with a good meal. We have done this before, a catering company can arrange this together with Cristi. Three days a meal passed to these people costs about € 450,-.

In Breaza Denisa got her driver's license, time flies. It is a good time to reflect on how this beautiful project has developed so well. Great for the initiators and those who made the realization of this project possible. However, especially for the children who have been given a chance at a better future. Many thanks to Csaba and Imola and all the other people behind this project.

This year it has been 25 years since I first participated in an aid transport organized by St. Promotie, led by Jan Valk. That's how I ended up in Breaza for the first time. Many adventures would follow afterwards.

Next week we will collect building materials in Delft and on Wednesday we will load a truck partly for Reghina in Ticau, the final destination is Cristi in Botosani.
