Weekly update 51/21

Last Tuesday, December 14, we loaded a trailer, this time with destination Breaza. The intention was to load on Wednesday, but the truck could already be in Broek op Langedijk on Monday evening and after many months of wandering in Europe, the driver was eager to go home.

With a small group we made a nice load of it and it left at 2:30 pm. Friday morning there was unloading in Breaza, this driver is at home with his wife and six children. In Romania there is a holiday period at the end of the year and at the beginning of the new year.

On Wednesday there were more than enough clean-up and pick-up jobs, useful work that we were still busy with. We ended the day eating a light meal and telling “tall stories”.


The people of the Phoneo foundation from Reghin are also busy distributing the packages. Ilja Witte sent beautiful photos and a video with a small explanation. This makes it very clear what impact this action has here, as everywhere else.

Reghina from Ticau continues to hand out food, assist those in need, she continues tirelessly. Gerrit van der Starre of the Emeth Foundation sent a newsletter about it.

Toth Attila from Reghin/Peris is overflowing with ideas, plans and realizing them, a very special attitude to life that appeals to me. A new project is the construction of a shed to store goods for his thrift store. The floor is in place and the steel construction is already in place. Wood and plates to close it up are still on the list of things that are needed.

Last Friday we were also able to pick up a consignment of goods that they can use very well in Romania, but which we cannot keep for long. Tuesday 21 December we will therefore load again, this truck goes to Botosani with a stopover in Marghita.

Due to the new corona vicissitudes, we have to be extra careful, don't come to the storage without an invitation, we want / have to keep it "small" again.

Weekly update 7/24

Last week we shipped a trailer that will cover part of the route to Breaza by train. This concerns the stretch from Cologne to Arad, the trailer went on the train in Cologne and in Arad another tractor picks it up again for the last stretch to Breaza. We want to gain experience with this and thus avoid the crowds and controls at the Hungary/Romania border. On Wednesday, February 14, the loading of this trailer went well, there was quite a bit of repacking work and we were able to load a beautifully varied trailer with relief goods. The driver had to wait a little longer for his papers, Mission & Relief from Zevenhuizen produced additional documents. At 1:30 PM the driver headed to the terminal in Cologne. Weekly update 14/24

Another great week behind us with a lot of work done. On Wednesday, April 3, there were collection and clean-up jobs and stock from our temporary storage was brought back to the Dulleweg. On Thursday, April 4, there was a clothing campaign in a store in Heerhugowaard. And on Friday April 6, two trucks came to load. As a result, all the last 2.600 Easter packages are now on their way to Romania. A few photos of the loading. Csaba from Breaza has been busy delivering the first shipment of packages. The Phoneo Foundation from Reghin allows him to use a very handy van for this purpose. Many packages have already been delivered to people's homes. The rumors are spreading fast and he has already received questions: when are you coming to us? Weekly update 20/24

Yesterday Nico and I returned home safely from a useful and interesting trip to Romania. The main goal was to discuss the progress and the start of the season on the farm in Marghita with Attila. We were lucky with the weather, it was really spring, and the sowing and planting was in full swing. A beautiful period when you see what happens until the harvest period. I have often written that farmers in Romania are having a hard time due to... the low prices they receive for their products. Unfortunately, quite a few are now in danger of going under. Attila buys a large part of his planting material from a company in Hungary. A modern and large company that grows seeds into small plants under optimal conditions. During the tour we received, I asked, among other things, how future-proof this activity is. The answer was simple – as long as people continue to eat, this will continue.
