Weekly update 47/21

Since last Wednesday there has been some space in our storage in Broek op Langedijk. With a relatively small group, we loaded two Romanian trucks, mainly with Christmas gifts. Of the 4.200 we made, more than half is now gone.

Loading two trucks from an overcrowded warehouse is actually just a bit too much, but the job is done at 14:30 the last truck left for Romania. The photos and stories we will soon receive from Romania will quickly make you forget the hard work. The pick-up crew also did a nice job and ended up coming in last.

The first packages were unloaded in the rain on Saturday in Ticau, it is not the most ideal place to unload there because everything has to be done by hand. Reghina was able to arrange this well again luckily. She got some extra packs this time 440 pieces.

The same truck will arrive in Botosani on Monday where the rest will get out.

The truck we loaded for Breaza will also arrive there on Monday.

On Friday Gerrit did a pick-up job in Amsterdam, so we can continue for a while.

Cristi in Botosani went back to work on Monday, his leg problems were gone. As always, he is busy, Tuesday the car with mouth caps arrived from Hamburg. It now seems as if DHL has gained a lot of deliverers in Botosani. The plan to send them to the Ukraine is not successful because of the documents needed at the border. In small quantities, a friend of Cristi brings them to the Ukraine. To Moldova it seems to work from Cristi's church someone more often organizes aid transports, about 20 mainly from Italy.

It takes little effort to distribute them as they are in demand, Cristi said he has never had so many mayors on the phone as in the past week. They especially want to hand them out at schools, many children have been using the same mouth cap there for months. Getting sick from a mouth cap is a regular occurrence.

The woodcutter, tough boy.
John Fracker sent photos explaining his work. Some of the photos were taken at the place where we brought the containers that first served as a temporary school in Getz. The little boy who is chopping wood, for example, what future prospects does he have? It is near Bistrita, the huts of these people used to be near the river that overflowed its banks. As a result, these people were again completely homeless.

Reghina from Ticau sent some more pictures, she just keeps going. The Opel Combo has already done a good job and is now on winter tires.

Our other contacts have not sent an update this week.

The transports in December with Christmas packages often had a special character, I have good memories of that.

Here the link to pictures of a transport in December 2015. Botosani and Breaza.

Next Wednesday we will load two more trucks and then all 4,200 packages will be on their way. The first goes to Marghita and Marien Kroon in Floresti, in Marghita the packages for Inci and Domien from Salard also go out. Attila and Domien take care of the transport to Salard. Marien also gets mouth caps from the storage on the farm and if possible also some potatoes.

The second one goes to Breaza and Phoneo in Reghin.

There are pick up jobs again.
