Weekly update 30/21

You can make enough beautiful pictures in Romania, this is in Deaj.

The second part of the trip together with Nico was again a beautiful and interesting experience. On Sunday we went to visit Eleana and Nelu in Urmenis, people we have known for a long time and who mean a lot to the people around them. The table was full of delicious things for us to enjoy. The son and daughter-in-law were also visiting and we were able to exchange information extensively. It was quite warm again, but on the terrace under the trees in this beautiful spot it was good to be in this company.

Monday we went to Botosani, there was also a hospitable reception waiting for us, many stories were told. We visited the new unloading place with, great for each other a very good point for storage and transhipment. It is also a great place to offer the children some entertainment.

On Tuesday we first went to the Roma family who got a cow through Cristi, she gives good milk and
receives excellent care. This family also thinks about others and is distributing relief goods in this village. When I informed them that the morels on a tree there were very tasty, the whole family went to pick and we were given a few large bags.

Cristi has a great nose for finding families in trouble and we visited some of them. Naturally, there will be all kinds of special encounters. He receives a lot of support from all kinds of countries for his projects, not only for the construction of the new boarding school. It is also good to see that a kind of food bank idea is being created and that company surpluses are being put to good use. Our farewell dinner with Cristi and Aline was delicious, Aline is a very good cook, she had put a lot of effort into it. A special and enterprising couple who do what they can to help others, not to mention their children's home where 21 children are now well managed, certainly no small thing.

Wednesday we went to Breaza again, we paid a visit to Edward and Ildiko and got an insight into the renovation of the church, a lot of work and because it is a monument not an easy task. Ildiko talked enthusiastically about the villages where she has been pastoring for some time. Glad we made this visit. We got to know the six new children who now also live with Csaba and Imola in Breaza "in real life". They are very sweet children, the parents are Roma who are, let's say, not of the careful sort. Very bad housing etc., no safe home for children. In Breaza they get the chance to get out of this vicious circle. Imola and Csaba have gained a lot of experience and will do everything they can to give them a good future. Something that every child is entitled to but in this world full of inequality in the harsh reality is not the case.

Furthermore, Madeline was in the spotlight for the entrance exam of the University in Cluj has received a ten. She is going to study chemistry and if she manages to maintain this high level, she will receive all kinds of privileges and she can follow this study with lower costs. Denisa also does very well in school and gets good grades. With her holiday work she makes long days in a kind of fast food restaurant in Reghin, many "colleagues" give up because it is too heavy. Denisa sees it as a challenge to accomplish it and perseveres. We also paid a visit to the restaurant and were impressed by the enthusiastic and fun way she did it.

Thursday was the return trip, this went without any problems and we were back home at 6:00 PM. We have not been hindered by Covid measures, now that the figures in the Netherlands are rising so fast, there are new entry restrictions. Without full vaccination it is very difficult, you will then have to deal with quarantine measures.

Toth Attila sent a number of photos and once again endorsed the importance of helping these people.

In Langedijk, the work was mainly dominated by pick-up jobs, I think they all succeeded.

On Wednesday 28 July we are supposed to load a truck for Botosani, Cristi notes that this can be difficult. Romanian drivers must now be able to submit a test or be vaccinated, not all of them are.
