Weekly update 26/21

Monday 21 June the truck we arrived in Botosani that we have loading the previous Wednesday.

Cristi sent pictures with explanations, also pictures of older people getting a pack of diapers, very useful and necessary, I was hesitant to post them, a bit embarrassing. Also photos of the new construction of Casa Ioana, the way of building deviates quite a bit from what is common here. It looks earthquake proof.

On Tuesday 22 June, a small group started making preparations for loading a truck the next day.

On Wednesday 23 June, loading the truck for Henk Muller's projects in Deaj and the surrounding area went smoothly and without any problems. Just like the collection jobs that had to be done, in Egmond, for example, clothes at the clothing bank and in a special place, namely the Abbey of Egmond a hospital bed. This is a beautiful destination for everyone to visit once. www.abdijvanegmond.nl

The fully loaded truck left for Romania at 13:30 our, there was a small delay at the border due to the lack of a certificate, we could solve this with a whatsapp message to the driver. Saturday was unloaded in Deaj, Henk sent pictures of it. Distribution has even started on Saturday afternoon and evening, again to families who live in pure poverty.

Reghina from Ticau sent pictures of her beautiful work. Gerrit van der Starre wrote a newsletter about it, a nice addition to all the photos.

In Breaza it is very busy with the distribution of relief supplies. Mark, the youngest son of Imola and Csaba, kicked a ball hard, resulting in his foot having to be put in a cast for 14 days. Denisa had an accident and has a sprained foot, it hurts and she can't go to her holiday work.

It's (too) hot in Romania at the moment and you'd better be fit.

Another photo came in of the handing over of the wheelchair to the disabled boy. There is more demand for wheelchairs and also for bicycles.

To make room for new stock, we will be loading two trucks next Wednesday, the first to Botosani and the second to Breaza. There are also a number of pick-up jobs, so plenty to do. It is a challenge, but we can organize it in such a way that it can be done well with combined forces.

As with many other organizations, our foundation is also aging, both of the members of the board and of the volunteers. At some point, this could endanger the survival of this beautiful and useful work.

A few younger volunteers have been working with us for some time, Gerard-Jan and Miranda Schuur. This couple wants to gradually “take over the baton”, they feel very involved in our activities and are willing to put their shoulders to the wheel to ensure that this work continues in the long term. They have already seen with their own eyes a number of times how bad the situation is among the poorest part of the population in Romania.

We are very happy with this, it removes uncertainty for us, but especially for the people in our network in Romania. So instead of phasing out, we can build a new future together with them.
