Weekly update 18/21

Wednesday, April 28, a Romanian truck was loaded (No. 20 in 2021), partly with mainly hospital beds for Marghita and further with food, furniture and clothing for Reghina in Ticau. There were also a few pick-up jobs.

Henk Muller sent photos of the handing out of things, but also of the work in the poly
greenhouses of no less than 5.000 m2 in total. Henk also sent information about a fire in Valea Rece, poor people are the victims of this. Next Wednesday we are going to load for Henk in Deaj and then send building materials, among other things.

Dwight Delong from Oradea has also been able to hand out packages, unfortunately Dwight has problems with his health recently and needs to slow down a bit.

Reghina from Ticau again sent photos, including those of the unloading of the cargo loaded on Wednesday in Broek op Langedijk, which arrived there on Friday. Reghina is very grateful that we make it possible for her to lend a helping hand to the poor people in her area. This in collaboration with the Emeth Foundation from Heiloo.

Cristi from Botosani has had a busy week making packages and building the extension of Casa Ioana. An employee of Casa Ioana fell ill and to make matters worse, Cristi herself fell and suffered a serious injury to a finger. The package making continued on Saturday with the help of the youth, too bad it started to rain again.

The Easter celebration has been here for a long time, the difference with the Orthodox Easter is big this year, because this celebration is this weekend. Together with the May 1 celebration it is a special weekend in Romania.

The enormous fire last Saturday at a tire shop a little further on the Dulleweg did not hit the building we use.

Weekly update 7/24

Last week we shipped a trailer that will cover part of the route to Breaza by train. This concerns the stretch from Cologne to Arad, the trailer went on the train in Cologne and in Arad another tractor picks it up again for the last stretch to Breaza. We want to gain experience with this and thus avoid the crowds and controls at the Hungary/Romania border. On Wednesday, February 14, the loading of this trailer went well, there was quite a bit of repacking work and we were able to load a beautifully varied trailer with relief goods. The driver had to wait a little longer for his papers, Mission & Relief from Zevenhuizen produced additional documents. At 1:30 PM the driver headed to the terminal in Cologne. Weekly update 14/24

Another great week behind us with a lot of work done. On Wednesday, April 3, there were collection and clean-up jobs and stock from our temporary storage was brought back to the Dulleweg. On Thursday, April 4, there was a clothing campaign in a store in Heerhugowaard. And on Friday April 6, two trucks came to load. As a result, all the last 2.600 Easter packages are now on their way to Romania. A few photos of the loading. Csaba from Breaza has been busy delivering the first shipment of packages. The Phoneo Foundation from Reghin allows him to use a very handy van for this purpose. Many packages have already been delivered to people's homes. The rumors are spreading fast and he has already received questions: when are you coming to us? Weekly update 20/24

Yesterday Nico and I returned home safely from a useful and interesting trip to Romania. The main goal was to discuss the progress and the start of the season on the farm in Marghita with Attila. We were lucky with the weather, it was really spring, and the sowing and planting was in full swing. A beautiful period when you see what happens until the harvest period. I have often written that farmers in Romania are having a hard time due to... the low prices they receive for their products. Unfortunately, quite a few are now in danger of going under. Attila buys a large part of his planting material from a company in Hungary. A modern and large company that grows seeds into small plants under optimal conditions. During the tour we received, I asked, among other things, how future-proof this activity is. The answer was simple – as long as people continue to eat, this will continue.
