Weekly update 8/21

Getting everything to go according to plan is not always easy. The objective was to load a trailer for Marghita including the container with a complete bakery. On Tuesday, reports came from Romania that this was not going to work because of the problems at the Czech / Germany border. Covid-19 measures.

Tuesday afternoon, to our surprise, the trailer with destination Marghita was already at the door, so we could load it on Wednesday. He has now been unloaded in Marghita last Friday, loading and unloading went well. Next week they will try out the bakery, under normal circumstances assistance from the Netherlands would be present, unfortunately this is not possible now, fortunately they are quite resourceful on the spot.

Nico Groot stumbled while loading, eventually found to be a broken wrist, four weeks of plaster. Haye does a lot of journeys for the Amsterdam food bank, he was also unlucky, he slipped with something securing and fell ugly. Painful but on Monday he will be driving again.

Here the link to photos of the unloading and loading.

Tuesday and Wednesday we have another batch of hospital beds from the Dr. Sarphatihuis house in Amsterdam can be picked up.

Unfortunately, it was not possible to load a freezer trailer with frozen food on Thursday due to the border problems between the Czech Republic and Germany. We are now trying to get it done next week, it remains uncertain Friday the 2nd candidate reported that he cannot come.

What has occupied us quite a bit is to find an affordable solution in the short term to make the six shacks somewhat habitable that I wrote about earlier. In collaboration with the Emeth foundation, a solution has been found that suits our capabilities. See also Gerrit van Der Starre's newsletter about this.

Reghina is last Friday. started directly with a construction team and also worked hard on
Saturday. The first results are already visible, people do not know what they are experiencing. Everyone looked away from their problems and now this is what is happening. It is great that we have been able to contribute to this thanks to sponsors.

They also think along in Romania, Cristi from Botosani is in contact with a foundation in Bucharest that may have the opportunity to contribute to this project. This foundation also has good contacts with a Pro TV, a Romanian channel that may be able to pay attention to this dire situation.

Cristi also sent pictures of handing out partly by himself but also those of his contacts.

People like Henk Muller may or may not be in
your area make the difference.
Henk Muller also sent pictures of handing out and other activities, just like the previous times, giving a good picture of what is happening there. We ourselves have not been in Romania for a long time, but in this way we stay well informed.

Imola also sent a photo album of handing out things to contacts. It would be nice if our American friend John Fracker (in red in the photos) sends some pictures and a story about the families in his village hit by fire.

The intention is to load a trailer for Breaza next Wednesday. I hope the freezer trailer will also arrive next week. There are also pick-up jobs on Wednesday.
