Weekly update 51 / December 2020

Last time I wrote in our blog, -we have no more food in stock and will not load a truck next week -.

On Monday, thanks to St. Manna from Alkmaar and St. HRIF from Weesp, so many food offers came in that we were able to load a truck on Thursday. Including a batch of almost 5,000 boxes of eggs, a product that everyone can use. Also slightly less common canned squid, we are going to try it, opinions are divided, it is a nutritious product and many people eat it. On Tuesday we picked up the eggs and on Wednesday we repackaged a group from deposit crates into boxes. On Wednesday we could also pick up a trailer full of other food items, more than enough to load a trailer. It's great to be part of a well-functioning network.

On Thursday we started loading the Romanian truck at nine o'clock, the first half with goods is destined for Deaj, the second half goes to Breaza. This is in addition to the Christmas packages promotion there. Henk Muller left for Deaj on Wednesday and will live there for a longer period. Henk has now arrived and sent photos taken by team members who hand out packages and goods in the area there. It remains sad to see how these people have to live or survive. There are also pictures of children in a class receiving gifts from the Netherlands. What will their life look like in about 25 years?

Here the link to pictures of the loading.

Ronald Wolthuis called again to see how well the potatoes and carrots are and help people get through the winter. He could use at least 500 more bags and knew more addresses to use. Toth Attila is asked if he has food much more often than usual because of his work as Pastor. We have agreed that a trailer will be loaded in Margitha on Wednesday December 16 with 18,000 kg of potatoes and 4,000 kg of carrots. Attila wrote that these two parties are already ready to be loaded. Half goes to Phoneo and the other half to Toth Attila, unloading at his new shelter in Peris.

Last Sunday, Reghina from Ticau sent a nice series of photos of handing out clothes etc. to the families that have been given a new roof.

He has a hard time believing it.

In Marghita the packages are ready to be handed out, this will happen on Thursday.

Next week we expect more food to arrive, which is why we will be loading a truck on Thursday 17 December in Broek op Langedijk. This will be given destination Botosani, Cristi has already been able to hand out a lot there, but the demand is only increasing. The problems with the Covid - 19 virus are also far from over in Romania, just like here it is pulling a kind of gray veil over society as a whole. The people who would not have had it easy without these problems are now experiencing extra difficulties.

In Breaza the crowds have calmed down a bit, and packages have also been distributed in the village itself. The new mayor has paid a visit and has expressed his appreciation for their work. Csaba and Imola are an important addition to the social services of the municipality, in terms of involvement they are far above it is my personal opinion.

On Tuesday December 15, the Hrif foundation will be sending a trailer for relief goods to Gherla in Romania from Weesp. Because Niels has an injury on his hand, help from our side may be welcome with loading, as is known on Monday. Esther will receive help from two of our team members next Wednesday to deliver the wrapped gifts from Esther Veenstra's clothing4u.nu foundation.

The rules regarding working in the shed will not change, we will continue to work in small groups and do not come without notice.
