Weekly update 48 / November 20
On Monday, November 16th we started getting goods in Amsterdam. We could use these items well for the two transports that we loaded on Tuesday and Wednesday.
On Tuesday morning, November 17, the Romanian truck arrived right on time at the door of our warehouse in Broek op Langedijk and it could be loaded for Deaj, the Phoneo foundation from Reghin and our depot in Breaza. Henk Muller received stuff for Deaj from all kinds of organizations and brought it to Broek op Langedijk. Replenished with part of our stock, the trailer was quickly half loaded. People from Ureterp had brought stuff for the Phoneo Foundation, a total of 5 pallets and a few carts. The space that remained was actually short to load all the goods destined for Breaza. On Friday November 20, we first released in Breaza and then in Deaj.
Imola has also written something about it on her blog.
With the Christmas food action continues despite the difficult conditions very well. Around Easter 4,500 people received a nice package, now with this promotion we will reach even more people in need, I expect. This is because sponsors made the potato campaign possible, just like the purchase of foodproducts in Romania itself. The amount of foodstuffs that St. Promotion was able to bring from the Netherlands as a basis for the campaign is also more than we expected. That is very convenient, poverty and hunger are increasing rapidly in Europe, especially in countries in the east of Europe.
Wednesday morning, November 18, the Romanian truck was ready on time to be loaded with destination Botosani. There were a few more pick-up jobs, loading went smoothly, as was pick-up at different locations.
Here the link to a few photos.
The truck was parked in Bistrita on Friday evening, the driver had to take his mandatory rest there and will unload in Botosani on Monday. Cristi is completely ready, the concrete floor is now ready at the new unloading location and there are already quite a few roofs. An aid organization from Groningen came to bring some clothes, etc., the Dutch truck went to different addresses in Romania.

It is not easy for Toth Attila, many people die in the Apalina neighborhood, with this neighborhood he is closely linked through his activities. As a pastor, he is often in charge of funerals, important to provide comfort and guidance, but also a difficult task.

John Fracker has been handing out to the gypsy community near Bistrita last year
have been hit by a flood. Some of them now live in the containers we brought from Getz. Just like roof plates etc. to build houses. A.o. Weekly report 36 of last year contains a report on this.
Henk Muller sent pictures of the activities in Deaj.
In Romania, things are not going in the right direction with the spread of the virus, more and more areas are facing a complete lockdown. Of course, almost 10,000 new cases every day is not good. The hospitals cannot survive for a long time, there is simply no place left. People have to catch it at home, there is at least the basic care there in the home circle. There will be parliamentary elections in December, most people expect stricter measures afterwards.
On Monday we will pick up goods in Amsterdam again, on Tuesday we will load for Marghita and Ticau. Wednesday we will pick up things at Dorcas in Andijk, the Red Cross hospital in Beverwijk and at a few more places. Thursday we will load for Breaza. We do this again in small groups, so do not come to our storage without an invitation. It is annoying and no fun for anyone, but under the current circumstances there is no other way, we have to work as safely as possible.
