The weekly update.

Weekly report 40 / September 2020.

Last week it was a bit quieter than the average of recent times. We were able to concentrate the work on Wednesday. That day we loaded a truck with destination Breaza, mainly with hospital beds. On Saturday morning it arrived there and unloaded, the hospital beds go to hospitals in Tirgu Mures, and they are picked up on Monday. All other stuff will also quickly find their way. On Wednesday Siem loaded furniture in Tiel and chocolate spread in Enschede.

The previously brought school furniture has arrived at its destination, the schools can now use it extra well. There will be a number of days of online education again, the school buildings will be used for the local elections on Sunday. According to the "polls", it could be that after sixteen years another mayor will come to Breaza. For online education, all children must have their own laptop, in many families this is not financially feasible.

In Botosani the truck was unloaded on Monday that we loaded the week before, they were very happy with it again. When handing out in a village near Botosani, someone approached Cristi to ask which political party he belonged to. This man suspected Cristi of wanting to influence Sunday's elections. They were very happy with the vegetables and potatoes from the farm in Marghita for Casa Ioana, they are busy canning. The laptop pen from Denmark has been put into use and comes in handy. It seems that all children are going to become more ICTs. Cristi has again received a nice batch of food from a wholesaler in Iasi.

Henk Muller again sent a lot of photos. Henk's trip to Romania went smoothly. This time he will not be able to stay in Romania for long, he will go back to the Netherlands to work at the same company as this summer. Due to circumstances they really need Henk there to get the work done.

Reghina from Ticau also sent pictures again.

Bringing all the goods ensures that our contact persons are not left empty-handed when help is needed. In the Netherlands, a measure of poverty is the sharp increase in the number of people who have to rely on food banks. In Romania there are no food banks as we know them, the relief workers we support in Romania receive the same signals, the demand for help is only increasing.

We are going to do the Christmas packages differently this year due to the corona virus. Under the current circumstances, we do not consider it responsible to put together these packages with a large group of people. It is almost impossible to have the work carried out under 100% safe conditions. It is of course a great pity that we had to take this decision. I do not venture to predict when, but we will certainly pick up the packages again in the future.

Together with our contact persons in Romania, we ensure that packages are available for the people involved. We are still working on the exact implementation of this, but it is certain that we will make a nice aid campaign again.

Next Wednesday we will load hospital beds and food again with destination Breaza. On Tuesday we can pick up 6 hospital beds in Bergen and a lot can be picked up in Alkmaar.

Sometimes during a search on the computer you come across old files that evoke beautiful memories. In 2002 I wrote a report of a trip to Bulgaria, which I would like to share again.
